Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you begin blogging?  Tanya_Idaho

I began my blog when I moved from Seattle, WA to Boise, ID, as a way to merge my passion for fashion with love of writing. It was also a great way for me to explore my new town and get to know the shops and the fashion culture here.

Where do you get your style inspiration?

I follow a lot of bloggers on Instagram for daily doses of fashion inspiration. As a slim-but-hourglassy woman, I also study style icons like Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren, and more recently Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and others who know how to dress their curves in classy ways.

How has being a personal stylist affected your own sense of style?

I think I’ve become more daring, but also learned to appreciate the simplicity of knowing the things that work best for my style and my body type. I venture out of the box when it suits me, but always keep in mind comfort and confidence. If you’re not comfortable in what you’re wearing, it shows!

What is your favorite thing about living in Idaho?

When I first moved here, everyone told me that Idaho was “behind the times” in fashion. But having lived here a few years, I truly believe that Idahoans simply have their own fashion! By that, I mean they care about it when it suits them, but most of the time they’re focused on family and the beauty around this area and living life to the fullest. It’s a laid-back attitude, firmly grounded in reality, and I have learned to appreciate it!

What is your favorite local attraction?

Um, the outdoors–all of it! Seriously, it’s hard to choose a favorite, because Idaho’s great outdoors are amazing. The river, the greenbelt, the mountains… It’s all gorgeous, and I’m continually learning about new places! Last week some friends took us day camping at a gorgeous part of the reservoir I never knew existed. It made me want to get out and explore even more! I’m fortunate to work with Snow Bunny Magazine; those ladies know all the cool spots for fun and adventure around here!

Do you notice any regional trends that may not be as prominent in other areas?

Boiseans wear their love for this city literally on their sleeves. Idaho pride seems to be a very constant and prominent trend, from t-shirts to jewelry to hats and belt buckles. I have an Idaho necklace from Olive Wicherski that always gets tons of compliments! Watch designers from Banana Ink, Idahome, Bricolage, Six Soldiers, and Miss Courageous, among others, and you’ll see what I mean.

What summer trend are you most excited about?

Oh, goodness, do I have to choose ONE? I love pastels, fit & flare dresses, palazzo pants, and of course sneakers are hot right now (Vans is launching their Star Wars line, June 1st – dying to get my hands on those!) But honestly the trend I’m most intrigued by is the return of ladylike matching sets. There’s something so feminine, so polished, and so ultra-modern about this look!

What is the hottest hue of the season and how are you wearing it?

I’m crazy over the pastel trend right now! Baby blue is my favorite hue; today I’m wearing a black & white striped maxi dress with this amazing chambray shirt I found at LOFT as a lightweight jacket. The shirt is so soft, it’s like wearing baby bunny kisses! And it brings out the blue in my eyes, so that’s a plus.

What is the most important thing you look for in a piece of jewelry? rgz10228

I look for two things: does it make a statement that can fit my ever-changing moods, and is it quality? I hate buying pieces that look so cool, but within a few wears they’re tarnishing. Silver should stay silver! I also love pieces that are inspired by nature, but still very polished and modern. Like Eve’s Addiction’s Designer Inspired Black Rose Pave CZ Cocktail Ring!

What is your favorite piece of jewelry you own and why?

This may sound cheesy, but I’d have to say my wedding ring! My husband had it custom-designed in platinum by an artist in Seattle who’s long-since retired, and the poor guy ate almost nothing but mac & cheese for months to pay for it. I had no idea; it was the biggest surprise of my life! He was willing to practically starve to get me the best, above and beyond what I ever would have asked for.

What is your favorite piece from right now?

I love the Designer Style CZ Sway Necklace! It’s so elegant and has a touch of Art Deco to it. But at the same time, I see a bohemian flare to the dangling stones. I could wear this necklace so many ways; it’s very versatile! My top “indulgence” pick would be the Exquisite Garnet CZ Dazzling Fancy Sunflower Necklace, though. The beauty of that piece takes my breath away! It’s the kind of statement item I would style entire outfits around, for fancy events or public appearances. Simply gorgeous!
