Sparkling Across America: Ohio

Holly Ritter is a die-hard Ohio State fan, Columbus resident, and–as far as we’re concerned–an authority on Ohio style. We chatted with Holly about her blog, Hey, Hollywood, her style inspiration, and the best bargain she’s ever found. Read on to continue your virtual style road trip through the U.S.!

Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you get into blogging? hey-hollywood

My name is Holly. I work in marketing full time for a university, I coach high school varsity cheerleading and I am a grad student. I have a husband, two dogs and a cat. I’m a big fan of Chipotle, cheap wine, cider beers and spontaneous dance parties. I’ve always enjoyed writing, and I started blogging in 2007 as a creative outlet.

Describe your style in 3 words.

Comfy chic.

What is the most important fall accessory this season?

A statement necklace or scarf. They can add interest to every outfit.

What do you like best about living in Ohio?

Fall in Ohio is the best – football season, pretty leaves, warm days and chilly nights.

What’s your favorite local attraction?

As an animal lover, I’m a big fan of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. In Ohio, it’s always fun to head up to Cedar Point or Put-in-Bay, an island in Lake Erie.

Do you notice any regional style trends that aren’t as prominent in other parts of the country?

Does Buckeye gear count?

What’s one trend you think people should stay away from this season?

I have a hard time embracing the whole tartan thing, especially in skirt and blazer form. It can get very school girl and when I think school girl, I’m reminded of a college Halloween party. I just can’t take tartan seriously. But I do enjoy a comfy plaid button down every once in a while.

You describe yourself as a bargain shopper. What’s the best deal you’ve ever gotten?

Last winter, I scored a pair of $80 riding boots at DSW for $20 on sale. During the fall and winter, I wear boots almost every day and this particular pair is a unique color and style that really stands out and goes with everything. I love them!

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry you own and why?

My gold, boyfriend watch. I wear it almost every day.

Mixed Stones Wrap Bracelet

What’s your favorite piece from right now?

I’m a big fan of wrap bracelets, so I’m loving the Chen Rai Mixed Stones Wrap Bracelet.
