Celebrate Grandma & Grandpa September 8th

September 8, 2013 is National Grandparents Day, a holiday celebrated in the United States on the first Sunday after Labor Day since 1978. The woman behind the holiday is Marian McQuade, a West Virginia native whose aim was to champion the cause of lonely elderly folks in convalescent homes and persuade grandchildren to tap into the wealth of knowledge and life experience that their grandparents can provide.

At its core, National Grandparents Day honors grandparents and brings generations of family members together in celebration of family and heritage.

Though it is not one of the top gift-giving holidays recognized by the consumer world, it is important to remember Grandma and Grandpa on Grandparents Day, and personalized jewelry is a great, meaningful way to do so. A mother’s ring or pendant customized with grandchildren’s names or birthstones is a meaningful keepsake Grandma is sure to love. Photo pendant jewelry is another keepsake gift, this one perfect for Grandma or Grandpa. A birthstone family tree pendant with a surrounding ring of grandchildren’s names is perfect for the many-times grandmother. Grandfathers can get in on the holiday as well with dog tag photo pendants engraved with images of their loved ones or engraved with a special message.
