Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you begin blogging?
I’m Alexa, and I write the fashion blog “Bright and Sassy.” I just completed graduate school and can’t wait to pursue my career as a (fashionable) teacher.
I started my blog the summer after I graduated from college. I was in this awkward transition in my life (as most of you probably can relate to), and I wasn’t sure what was next. I went to the Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Met in New York City and wrote my first blog post about it that night. I’ve always looked at other blogs for inspiration, so I thought, “Why not me?
Describe your style in 3 words.
Feminine, bohemian, and classic
Where do you get your style inspiration?
So many! I read other fashion blogs for inspiration (my favorites are “We Wore What,” “Cheetah is the New Black,” “Atlantic-Pacific”). I also look to celebrities for outfit inspiration. I love Jessica Alba, Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, and Olivia Palermo— just to name a few.
I’m inspired by street style as well. I love seeing girls who have unique, individual style, who rock it with confidence. Other inspirations are magazines, and, of course, New York City.
What’s your favorite style trend this summer?
I love summer layers, so probably a denim vest. I think I’ve worn mine every single day this week over a different dress. It’s pretty effortless. My favorite is the dark wash from Madewell.
What’s the hottest hue of the summer?
I love light shades in the summer, especially white. It’s light, airy, and reminds me of Italy! When I experiment with trendy summer shades, like mint, it tends to be on my nails.
What’s one trend you’d recommend staying away from?
That’s hard to say. I think that it’s important to dress for your body. Just because something is trendy doesn’t mean it works for everyone’s body. I know it can be difficult, but it’s important to ignore some trends that just don’t work for you.
You’re a recent grad school graduate (Congrats!) How’s the transition into post-grad life?
Thank you! The transition hasn’t been as hard as I thought it would be. I was very lucky that I was able to find a job quickly in the career that I have studied hard for. With that being said, all transitions are a bit awkward, and applying for jobs after graduation can be discouraging.
What’s the number one item in your beach bag this summer?
What’s your favorite piece of jewelry you own?
Gold heart pendant that was my grandmother’s. I tend to not leave the house without it.
What’s your favorite piece from EvesAddiction.com this summer?
There are so many great options! I love the Gold Plated Engraved oval bangle. I LOVE to layer bracelets and have been searching for a gold bangle that would allow me to engrave “Bright and Sassy” on it. I think I just found it!
