Q&A with Ms. GD Fierce: How to be Fierce for Summer 2012

Miss GD Fierce blogger and fashion expert, Gigi Baith, spills all of her favorite Summer Styles with Eve’s Addiction! Trust us, this is a MUST READ going into the hot summer months!

Find out what this Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising graduate’s favorite color of the season is, how she dresses to feel like she is on a vacation in St. Tropez every single day of the summer and why “fierce” is an absolute must as part of the EvesAddiction.com Interview Series.

Tell us a little about yourself and your blog. How did you get into Fashion?

I have loved fashion since I was very young. MissGdfierce.com is my love letter to style and relevance in the world.

On your blog, you tie a lot into “Fierce.” And we LOVE it! Where did this come from?

I use the word fierce quite a lot in my day-to-day life. I define fierce as being “Relevant and Cutting Edge”. If I don’t find that something is fierce, then it doesn’t land on my site. Anything from the way one thinks to material things can be deemed as “fierce”. Right now “fierce”, in my life, is having peace and balancing one’s true self.  Fashion becomes fun if it’s an addition to your life, instead of consuming your life.

What is the biggest style trend you are seeing for this summer season?

I am really loving silk dresses and tribal prints. Burberry did a lot of tribal print in their collection. I use to play my fashion kind of safe but, I have found true harmony in introducing pastel silk pieces and prints into my wardrobe.  Silk dresses in any color just looks so effortless with strappy wedges.

Tell us what you think the hottest hue of the season is and what you are doing with it.

The hottest hue is mint green or really any form of pastel.  I think a sunkissed tan against a pastel dress is stunning. I wear mint green in dresses and I paint my nails in the color as well. Yes, I am a bit obsessed with the color. Peach is gorgeous too.

What celeb do you get the most inspiration from in terms of style?

I am not really inspired by celebs too much because they often have stylists. I do however, admire street style in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Who has the hottest summer style so far this season that you have seen?

Hmmmmmm…I am always quite smitten with Blake Lively from Gossip Girl. She doesn’t have a stylist but is ALWAYS effortlessly fierce.  Miss. Renaissance {Style Blogger} has pretty cool style as well.

This summer, everyone should have:

Leopard pumps. I am not into a lot of animal print but I think a leopard pump jazzes up any outfit.

Pretend you’re going away for a fun summer weekend and can only bring 5 items (besides the basics of course)! What are they?!

  1. My Oliver Peoples “Myriel” Sunnies
  2. 2. MOR Macaron “Vanilla” Lip balm
  3. My caramel “Nightingale” Givenchy bag
  4. Silk Dresses {Juicy Couture, Tucker, etc}
  5. Any Iyanla Vanzant Book

Are there any styles you are seeing that you would suggest staying away from?

No, because I truly believe that there is a trend out there for everybody. There are things that I personally would not rock but, it could look fabulous on someone else’s body type.

When it comes to jewelry, is less more or is more, more. Or does it depend on the day?

It really depends on the day. I love stacking my vintage Cartier watch with a pave bangle and other dainty gold bangles when I am feeling edgy. When I want to go minimal. I wear my gold “lightning bolt” stud earrings with my diamond necklace and that’s it.

If you could tell the world one thing about summer fashion in general, what would it be?

Summer fashion should be easy and effortless because you are wearing less clothing. I approach Summer fashion as looking and feeling like I am on vacation in St. Tropez.

Because I can’t help myself, what is your favorite item for this summer from EvesAddiction.com?!

Hands down, it is the Lavender and Gold Austrian Crystal Shamballa Inspired Bracelet. I am totally loving the colors for Summer. Pastels are my favorite colors.
